SEATTLE (AP) -Seahawks starting defensive tackle Rocky Bernard and nickel back Jordan Babineaux were suspended Saturday by the NFL for next week’s season opener.
Bernard violated the league’s personal conduct policy. He was arrested in April for allegedly hitting his girlfriend in the head at a nightclub. He received a continuance of a charge of domestic violence.
Both were suspended without pay, and Babineaux was fined a second game check for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.
The team set its the regular-season roster of 53. Wide receiver Ben Obomanu was placed on injured reserve one day after breaking his clavicle in the preseason finale against Oakland. Seattle kept two kickers: veteran Olindo Mare and rookie Brandon Coutu.
Rookie Justin Forsett, a running star this summer, made the team. Camp standout receiver Michael Bumpus of Washington State did not.
