KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -Five days of training camp. That’s all Tyson Jackson missed.
Might as well have been five weeks.
Like so many other rookie holdouts, the Chiefs defensive end has spent the preseason playing a game of catch-up that feels more like boot camp. The third overall pick in this year’s draft, Jackson gets yelled out by the coaches on the practice field, buries his nose in the playbook off it.
He’s not the only one.
Nine rookies missed at least a portion of training camp because of holdouts, including Seahawks linebacker Aaron Curry, who sat out eight days before signing.
Two still haven’t signed and are falling behind with each passing day: San Francisco receiver Michael Crabtree and Cincinnati tackle Andre Smith.
