EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) -With a full head of gray hair and a torn rotator cuff in his throwing shoulder, even Brett Favre says he probably is not the player he once was.
The three-time MVP’s arrival in Minnesota has been greeted by Vikings fans as the missing link between their franchise and Super Bowl glory. But Favre hasn’t won an MVP award in 12 years and will turn 40 in October.
The Vikings think he has at least one more year of magic left in his right arm. So the defending NFC North champions have brought in the once-hated rival to lead them past the Packers, Bears and Lions and to their first Super Bowl appearance since 1977.
If that happens, dealing with the drama all summer long and the circus that surrounded his abrupt arrival this week will have been well worth it.
