CORTLAND, N.Y. (AP) -Jets coach Rex Ryan says quarterback Mark Sanchez will play a little past the first quarter, along with the rest of the starters, in New York’s preseason opener against the Giants on Monday night.
Ryan says that he wants to give the first-team offense and defense a chance to play after the long offseason.
Sanchez says he’s looking forward to the game, his first since having the patella-stabilizing ligament in his left knee repaired in February. He says he has had no problems with it during training camp.
The game will also be the debuts for several new players, including LaDainian Tomlinson, Jason Taylor and Santonio Holmes.
Holdout cornerback Darrelle Revis likely won’t be there after missing his 14th day of camp.
