LATROBE, Pa. (AP) -Steelers coach Mike Tomlin isn’t saying whether quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will play in Saturday night’s home exhibition game against the Detroit Lions.
The game will be Roethlisberger’s first since he drew a six-game suspension after being accused of sexual assault on a Georgia college student in March. He was not charged but was suspended by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.
The Steelers’ starters will play only eight to 12 snaps – about two series – and Tomlin wouldn’t say whether Roethlisberger or Byron Leftwich would start. Leftwich will be the starter when the season opens and Roethlisberger begins to serve his suspension, which could be reduced to four games.
