BEREA, Ohio (AP) -A person familiar with D’Qwell Jackson’s injury says the Cleveland Browns linebacker has been told he does not need surgery and could be back on the field in less than one month.
Jackson strained his right pectoral muscle – his second chest muscle injury in less than one year – in practice this week. He got a second opinion on Thursday from his surgeon in New York, who came to the same conclusion as the team’s medical staff and prescribed rest and rehab, said the person who spoke on condition of anonymity because of medical privacy laws.
Jackson will need 3 to 7 weeks to recover, and if he doesn’t have any setbacks, he could be ready for the Sept. 12 opener at Tampa Bay.
