FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) -To call Derek Anderson’s stay in Cleveland frustrating would be an understatement.
Despite a trip to the 2007 Pro Bowl, Anderson’s career with the Browns was defined by the ongoing battle for the starting job with Brady Quinn. Fans were ruthless in calling for Quinn to be the starter and the Browns coaches couldn’t decide what to do, alternating between the two.
Finally, Anderson can stop looking over his shoulder.
Released by the Browns this offseason, Anderson signed a two-year deal to get a fresh start with the Arizona Cardinals. He came in as the backup to Matt Leinart, but has made it a closer-than-expected competition with Leinart having a so-so training camp.
