NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -Tennessee quarterback Vince Young sat out Saturday night’s exhibition with the Washington Redskins, and coach Jeff Fisher said the punishment was for violating an unspecified team rule.
The 2006 Offensive Rookie of the Year had been due to play three or four series and start the Titans’ first preseason game. But Fisher said in a statement about an hour before kickoff that backup Kerry Collins would start the game instead.
“He will be on the sidelines tonight, will practice this week and play next weekend at New England,” Fisher said in the release.
Young started in Philadelphia last season after missing the team flight in Nashville. The quarterback had to fly into Philadelphia on his own but was not held out of that game. The Titans won that game to snap a two-game skid, only their third victory after starting the season 0-5.
