MANKATO, Minn. (AP) -Bernard Berrian is trying to become more of an integral part of Minnesota’s offense this season.
After leading the Vikings in yards receiving and averaging more than 20 yards per catch in 2008, Berrian had trouble keeping his left hamstring muscle healthy last season and wasn’t his usual self. He couldn’t run deep patterns like he was used to and wound up being more of a short-yardage receiver.
With Sidney Rice and Percy Harvin missing in training camp this week, Berrian has been getting work at all three wide receiver positions. Coach Brad Childress says Berrian can only benefit from the experience.
Berrian has twice in his career narrowly missed an 1,000-yard season. He says that’s a clear goal of his, though he’s more interested in winning.
