CORTLAND, N.Y. (AP) -Mark Sanchez is healthy and confident this season, no longer competing for a starting job with the New York Jets.
Now, the second-year quarterback wants to become more of a leader, adding Wednesday that his goal is making the Jets his team now.
Sanchez spent much of last season trying to find his way through his rookie campaign, making plenty of mistakes along the way. He came on strong down the stretch, though, and helped lead the Jets all the way to the AFC title game.
His development will be a key to the Jets’ Super Bowl hopes. He says he embraces that pressure.
Sanchez says he is completely healed from offseason knee surgery, and has felt good in practice so far.
