NO DIVING: During a passing drill without any defenders in the first workout Saturday, T.O. didn't dive for a ball in the end zone. That drew a groan from fans who wanted to see him make the catch. On his next chance, Owens caught a pass on the run from Tony Romo as he crossed the goal line. In a later drill, No. 81 beat cornerback Anthony Henry for a long gain, then threw a high-arching spiral 30 yards to a ball boy.
ON THE MENU: At training camp every morning, Owens has room service at the team hotel deliver the same breakfast at the same time. The menu consists of egg whites, wheat toast, oatmeal and strawberry jelly. Owens said he ``eats a lot of meals with small portions.'' Then he tapped a reporter on the stomach, and with a smile said, ``You ought to try it.''
SEEKING THE SUN: All the Cowboys training camp has been inside the Alamodome. ``Sometimes you want to be outside,'' T.O. said Saturday, the 11th straight day inside with four to go. The Cowboys will be outside for the first time for their preseason opener Thursday night at Texas Stadium. After that, camp will be held at Valley Ranch, where most workouts will be outside.
GOOD IMPRESSION: Coach Wade Phillips was asked about his impression of Owens so far. ``Terrell Owens is an outstanding receiver but he's also a very hard worker. Sometimes you don't know about a guy. ... He's better than what I thought he was in that he's just hard to cover. I can see why - because he worked hard at it.''
