BEREA, Ohio (AP) - Browns first-year coach Mike Pettine did more than watch his team practice. He listened as well.
Cleveland's players worked out in full pads for the first time in training camp on Monday. Under cloudy skies and in October-like temperatures, the Browns got a lot more physical than during their first two days on the field.
Pettine said he was pleased with the contact, which included a few loud shoulder-pad-to-shoulder-pad pops that excited another large crowd on the fields behind the Browns' training headquarters.
Pro Bowl offensive tackle Joe Thomas said he still gets ''butterflies'' before the first full-contact practice ''because this is real football. If you mess up, somebody's going to get smacked.
Pettine wants the Browns to be tougher this season, and linebacker Karlos Dansby believes Cleveland has several players with a nasty streak.
