FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) -The New York Jets have signed veteran free agent tight end Richard Owens.
The signing Tuesday comes a day after the team released Bubba Franks.
Owens, 28, has 17 career catches for 141 yards and a touchdown in four NFL seasons with Minnesota and St. Louis. He was out of the NFL last season after he was cut by the Rams.
He was signed by the Vikings as an undrafted free agent out of Louisville in 2004. Owens played 39 games for Minnesota before being waived in 2007, and then signed with St. Louis.
