BEREA, Ohio (AP) -Browns kicker Phil Dawson is at Cleveland’s mandatory minicamp after skipping the club’s voluntary workouts in an apparent contract dispute.
Dawson, the only player left from Cleveland’s 1999 expansion team, has been seeking a new deal from the Browns for several seasons. He has one year left on his contract.
Players were subject to a fine if they did not attend coach Eric Mangini’s minicamp.
Fullback Lawrence Vickers was one of four restricted free agents not on the field Thursday. Linebackers D’Qwell Jackson and Matt Roth and safety Abram Elam were also absent. Vickers was at the team’s OTAs earlier in the week and said he intended to be at the minicamp.
The only restricted free agent in attendance was running back Jerome Harrison.
