ST. LOUIS (AP) -Wide receiver Isaac Bruce plans to announce his retirement after 16 seasons in the NFL.
He spent 14 seasons with the St. Louis Rams, who will retire his No. 80 uniform.
The team made the announcement Wednesday before a news conference in which the four-time Pro Bowler will announce his retirement.
Bruce played for the 49ers in 2008 and 2009. St. Louis reacquired Bruce on Monday so he could retire as a Ram.
The Rams will retire Bruce’s number during an Oct. 31 home game against Carolina. The team will don throwback uniforms of white, blue and yellow that were worn from 1973 to 1999.
That’s the year Bruce and the “Greatest Show on Turf” Rams were 13-3 and went on to win Super Bowl 34.
