PHILADELPHIA (AP) -The Philadelphia Eagles signed fifth-round draft pick Brent Celek and sixth-round pick Rashad Barksdale to four-year contracts Wednesday, leaving the team with only three of its eight picks unsigned.
Celek, a tight end out of Cincinnati, had 35 catches for 481 yards last year, tops among Big East tight ends, and caught three touchdown passes. In his career, Celek caught 91 passes for 1,135 yards and 14 TDs.
The 23-year-old Barksdale walked on for just one season of football at Albany, N.Y., after spending two years on the college’s baseball team. Barksdale started 10 games and had 37 tackles and three interceptions as a safety and cornerback last season.
The Eagles have already signed draft picks Stewart Bradley, Tony Hunt and C.J. Gaddis.
