DAVIE, Fla. (AP) -Mike Nolan said he didn’t take long to decide that joining the Miami Dolphins was the right move.
After all, he needed a job.
It goes deeper than that, of course.
The Dolphins’ first-year defensive coordinator said he’d been following people like coach Tony Sparano and general manager Jeff Ireland for years. And he had a long relationship with Dolphins czar Bill Parcells, including a stint when they worked together with the New York Jets a decade or so ago.
Given all that, Nolan said he thought Miami was the right fit. And the Dolphins hope he’s the right person to shore up a defense that took some steps backward in 2009.
