DENVER (AP) -Hall of Fame lineman and defensive line coach Stan Jones has died. He was 78.
The Denver Broncos said in a statement that Jones died Friday. No cause of death was given.
Jones played on the offensive line for the Chicago Bears in the 1950s and ’60s before switching to the defensive line in 1962. He was chosen to seven straight Pro Bowls from 1955 to 1961, and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1991.
Jones was a defensive line coach for the Denver Broncos for 18 seasons until he left the team in 1988. He moved to Broomfield, Colo., in 2003.
Relatives are planning a memorial for Jones on June 4 at the National Western Stock Show.
