BEREA, Ohio (AP) -Guard Joe Andruzzi's contract was officially terminated Friday by the Cleveland Browns, who no longer had a spot for him after an offseason spent reshaping their offensive line.
Andruzzi made 27 starts for Browns coach Romeo Crennel, who worked with the 10-year veteran in New England and made him his first free-agent signing when he took over in Cleveland.
``It's always tough to let anyone go,'' Crennel said following the first practice of rookie mini-camp. ``But both Joe and I have been in the business for a long time. We know it's part of the business and we have to deal with it.
``He was an undrafted guy who didn't think he was going to be able to play and he's played for 10 years. He's had a good career and it might not be over because there might be someone else who would be interested in his talent.''
Andruzzi became expendable when the Browns signed free agent Eric Steinbach to a seven-year, $49 million deal in March. The club also re-signed center Hank Fraley and guard Lennie Friedman and signed veteran Seth McKinney.
Also Friday, the Browns agreed to terms with linebacker Jason Short on a one-year contract. He played on special teams for the Philadelphia Eagles the past three seasons before being waived in December.
