FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) -New York Jets rookie running back Joe McKnight says he has been dealing with nerves and a stomach flu, and isn’t in ideal shape.
McKnight, the team’s fourth-round pick out of Southern California, said Saturday he plans to stay around the training facility after rookie minicamp ends Sunday so he can get in shape.
He’s had a rough first two days of camp, vomiting on the field in his first practice Friday and dealing with hydration issues again in the morning session Saturday.
He has also had some problems with drops on passes out of the backfield, but coach Rex Ryan says McKnight has looked good running with the football.
New York traded two picks to Carolina to move up last Saturday so it could draft McKnight.
