NEW YORK (AP) – From Cam Newton to kicker Alex Henery, members of the All-America team are coming off the board quickly at the 2011 NFL draft.
Auburn’s star quarterback was the first player taken, followed by Texas A&M linebacker Von Miller. Through the sixth round, all but three of the eligible members of the 2010 AP All-America first team were picked.
In addition to Newton, first-round picks from the All-America team were: cornerbacks Patrick Peterson and Prince Amukamara, offensive linemen Nate Solder and Gabe Carimi, linebackers Von Miller and Ryan Kerrigan, and defensive tackle Nick Fairley.
Michigan linebacker Greg Jones was taken in the sixth round, 185th overall by the New York Giants.
Still left were offensive lineman Chase Beeler, safety Tejay Johnson and punter Chas Henry.
