EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -The oldest punter in the NFL is seriously considering retirement.
The New York Giants disclosed on Saturday that 44-year-old Jeff Feagles has told coach Tom Coughlin that he is having second thoughts about returning for a 23rd NFL season.
Feagles called Coughlin last week to discuss his concerns and recently met with the coach to talk more.
Coughlin says Feagles has been working hard to get ready for the upcoming season but some age-related physical problems have left him wondering whether he can compete at the highest level.
Coughlin expects Feagles to decide his future next week. The coach says he would be surprised if the punter decides to play.
