PITTSBURGH (AP) -There are 30-something players all over the Pittsburgh Steelers’ defense. Jason Worilds is a 20-something player who reminds them of their two excellent outside linebackers, James Harrison and LaMarr Woodley.
The Steelers need to get younger on defense. The Steelers need to get better on special teams. The 22-year-old Worilds won’t be asked to start immediately for the Steelers, but the second-round draft pick probably won’t serve a long apprenticeship.
Although Harrison has started only three seasons, the 2008 NFL defensive player of the year is 32 and might be at his peak physically and with his production.
The Steelers have no proven backups behind Harrison and Woodley, a Pro Bowl player last season.
