LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) -The Chicago Bears have chosen Florida safety Major Wright with their first pick in the NFL draft.
The pick didn’t come until Friday night, in the third round with the 75th overall pick.
The 5-foot-11 1/2, 206-pound Wright started three years for the Gators and came out for the draft as a junior. He figures to challenge Josh Bullocks and Craig Steltz for the free safety spot.
The Bears traded away their first pick for quarterback Jay Cutler last year and spent their second pick in a deal for defensive end Gaines Adams, who died during the offseason.
