LAS VEGAS (AP) -Former NFL star Javon Walker testified he’s changed his ways since he was robbed of flashy diamond jewelry and a wad of cash and left badly injured a block off the Las Vegas Strip almost two years ago.
The 31-year-old former Oakland Raiders wide receiver told a defense lawyer Thursday that “bad judgment” in a drunken state put him in the vehicle where he was robbed and left unconscious with broken facial bones in an abandoned parking lot.
Defense lawyer Betsy Allen questioned Walker about inconsistencies in statements to police and a grand jury in 2008 – and in testimony Wednesday before the trial jury for 42-year-old Deshawn Lamont Thomas.
Thomas has pleaded not guilty to kidnapping, beating and robbing Walker. He could face life in prison if convicted.
