FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) – Jurors deciding whether to convict former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez of murder will be back at work for a fifth day of deliberations.
The twelve jurors spent nearly 20 hours last week deliberating. They are due to return to court at 9 a.m. Monday and work until 4:30 p.m. unless they reach a verdict.
Hernandez is charged with the 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd, who was dating the sister of Hernandez’s fiancee. Lloyd’s body was found in an industrial park less than a mile from Hernandez’s home.
Hernandez’s lawyer said he was a kid who didn’t know what to do after witnessing a shocking crime. He questioned why Hernandez would risk his NFL career to kill.
The prosecutor said Hernandez thought no one would believe he was involved.
