MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -The medical overseer of the NFL’s anti-steroid policy says other players tested positive for banned diuretics before two Minnesota Vikings in 2008 – but they were not punished.
Dr. John Lombardo testified Tuesday that more than six players tested positive for diuretics from 2005 to late 2007. He says none was punished.
The NFL tried to suspend Vikings Pat Williams and Kevin Williams after they tested positive two years ago for bumetanide, which can be used to mask steroid use. The players have sued the NFL, saying the NFL inconsistently applied its anti-doping policy.
The trial is in its second day.
