MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. (AP) -Ben Roethlisberger’s agent says the Steelers quarterback has spoken to police about an allegation made after the player and his friends “mingled” with a group of women.
The statement is short on details but Roethlisberger was seen in Milledgeville on Thursday night at a few local restaurants and bars. The player owns a home nearby.
Police in the city about 85 miles southeast of Atlanta are investigating a sexual assault allegation at a nightclub where the player was seen, but their report does not name the subject.
Separately, Roethlisberger has been sued by a woman who claims he raped her in 2008 at a Lake Tahoe hotel. The Steelers star denies those allegations and has asked for counter-damages.
Agent Ryan Tollner says that “given the prior accusation against Ben, we are skeptical of motive, but we will continue to cooperate with everyone involved.”
