BEREA, Ohio (AP) -Pro Bowl return specialist Josh Cribbs finally has a new three-year contract with the Cleveland Browns.
Cribbs and Browns president Mike Holmgren announced the deal, a restructuring of the second half of the six-year, $6.77 million contract Cribbs signed in 2006. The announcement on Friday came minutes before Cleveland’s most popular player made an appearance at an auto show in front of hundreds of Browns fans.
Cribbs has been trying to get the team to redo his contract for more than two years.
Financial terms were not immediately known.
Cribbs returned three kickoffs and one punt for a TD last season. Browns coach Eric Mangini wants to expand Cribbs’ role in Cleveland’s offense next season.
