EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) -The Minnesota Vikings have released linebacker Vinny Ciurciu (CHUR’-choo), who was primarily a special teams player.
The move was made on Tuesday. Ciurcui signed a three-year contract with Minnesota in 2006 worth up to $3 million with $500,000 guaranteed, but injuries were a problem and he didn’t make a big impact on the Vikings’ coverage units.
Undrafted out of Boston College, Ciurcui has played seven seasons in the NFL. He was active for 14 of 16 regular-season games in 2008 for Minnesota, recording eight tackles on special teams and three on defense.
