INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -Southern Cal’s Taylor Mays has no regrets about his decision to return for his senior season.
Even thought it could cost him millions of dollars.
A year ago, Mays was projected to be the first safety picked in NFL draft. Most thought he would go within the first 15 picks if he came out of school early.
Now, after playing one more season in Los Angeles, he’s considered the No. 2 safety in this year’s draft and may not get picked until the final third of the first round.
It’s a risky decision that high-profile underclassmen wrestle with every winter.
Getting it right turns some players into instant millionaires. Getting it wrong can cost a player everything, including a shot at fulfilling their NFL dreams.
