NEW YORK (AP) – The NFL has hired Nicole Gustafson as a lobbyist.
The league says in a statement that Gustafson will be based in the NFL office in Washington, where as vice president for public policy and government affairs, she will help develop public policy and legislative initiatives and work with NFL teams on local and state issues.
The league announced Friday that she will begin the new position next month. Gustafson will report to Cynthia Hogan, the NFL’s senior vice president for public policy and government affairs.
Gustafson recently worked in the office of Louisiana Rep. Steve Scalise, the Republican whip in the House, where she advised on policy issues that included homeland security, education, and oversight and government reform. In December, Scalise said he regretted speaking before a white supremacist organization in 2002.
Gustafson worked for then-House Majority Leader Eric Cantor from 2009-14.
