NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) -A judge wants ex-Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick appear in bankruptcy court in Virginia before he’s released from prison.
Judge Frank Santoro said Friday he wants Vick to come to Virginia in April even if it means getting a court order.
Vick’s bankruptcy hearings have been unfolding as he serves a 23-month sentence in Kansas for bankrolling a dogfighting operation.
A government official told The Associated Press this week that Vick has been approved for home confinement as early as May 21 because there isn’t enough room at a halfway house. The official spoke on the condition of anonymity because the person was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.
Vick bankruptcy lawyer Michael Blumenthal says he still expects that Vick will be transferred to a halfway house.
