FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) – New York Jets owner Woody Johnson is confident new coach Todd Bowles and general manager Mike Maccagnan are the right combination to get the team back on track after four straight non-playoff seasons.
Bowles and Maccagnan were officially introduced Wednesday at a packed news conference at the team’s facility. Maccagnan was hired last Tuesday to replacing the fired John Idzik. Bowles was signed a day later to replace Rex Ryan.
Unlike Ryan’s bold first news conference in 2009, the more understated Bowles offered no Super Bowl guarantees. But the former Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator says the Jets will be ”a tough team, an intelligent team.”
Bowles says he and Maccagnan hit it off immediately and ”it’s going to be a dream working with this guy.”
