RENTON, Wash. (AP) – The Seattle Seahawks have hired Darrell Bevell as their offensive coordinator, just two days after firing Jeremy Bates from the same position.
The Seahawks confirmed the hiring Thursday. It was first reported by ESPN.com.
Bevell served as the offensive coordinator in Minnesota for the past five seasons, but was not retained for new coach Leslie Frazier’s staff. The 41-year-old Bevell also spent six seasons as an assistant with Green Bay, including the final three years as the Packers quarterbacks coach.
Bevell interviewed with the Seahawks on Wednesday. He becomes the fourth offensive coordinator in the last four seasons in Seattle.
Bates lasted just one season. He was fired for what head coach Pete Carroll termed “philosophical differences.”
