MILWAUKEE (AP) – Aaron Rodgers, sure. Clay Matthews, check. Greg Jennings and Donald Driver, probably.
The Falcons now have someone else on the Green Bay Packers roster to think about: Rookie running back James Starks.
He rushed for 123 yards in the Packers’ wildcard victory at Philadelphia on Sunday, setting a franchise record for the most yards rushing by a rookie in a postseason game.
Just last month, the injury-plagued sixth-round pick out of Buffalo was inactive for back-to-back. Packers coach Mike McCarthy even publicly questioned Starks’ work habits.
Apparently, the coach got the rookie’s attention, just in time for the playoffs. The Packers play at Atlanta on Saturday night with a trip to the NFC Championship game on the line.
