NEW YORK (AP) -The New York Jets have gone from lucky flukes to a team to be reckoned with.
After beating the Cincinnati Bengals for the second straight week with rookie Mark Sanchez leading the way, Rex Ryan’s Jets believe they can stick around a while in the postseason.
Ryan boldly declared that his team should be the favorites to win the Super Bowl, and then the Jets (10-7) went out and backed up his bold talk with a 24-14 victory Saturday. They’ll travel to San Diego and take on a Chargers team that has won 11 straight to go to 13-3 and is being picked by many to win the championship.
Still, the Jets remain confident with their No. 1 rushing attack chewing up yardage and time off the clock and a suddenly poised Sanchez playing turnover-free football.
