Line climbing in Pats-Dolphins game
FOXBORO, MA (The Spread) – The line continues to climb in today’s Dolphins-Patriots matchup as bettors are hammering the home team.
The Patriots opened as 7.5-point home favorites over the Dolphins but according to oddsmakers at online sports book Bovada.lv, New England is now a 9.5-point favorite. As for the total, it opened at 48 and that’s where it currently sits.
As of this writing, 79% of public bettors are taking the Patriots with the points, so the 9.5 spread could continue to climb the closer we get to today’s 1:00PM ET kickoff. Miami needs a victory to stay in the AFC wild card hunt but the Dolphins are coming off an ugly loss to the Ravens and now have injury problems at linebacker and in the secondary.
The home team is a perfect 5-0 against the spread in the last five meetings between these two teams while the Patriots are 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall. On the other side, the Dolphins are 0-4 against the number in their last four games in December, which includes last week’s loss to the Ravens as a 3-point home favorite.
