It looked like the Jets and Browns were heading for a tie or at the very least, a push, in Cleveland on Sunday before New York scored a rare overtime touchdown to cover as a 3-point favorite. The combined score of 26-20 went over the posted total of 46 points.
Once again the Lions lost but once again they also covered thanks to a last-minute touchdown in Buffalo. The Bills hung on 14-12 for their first victory, but Detroit covered as a 2.5-point underdog. Some books did offer the game at 1.5, however.
Backers of the Colts couldn’t have been too pleased when the Bengals scored a late touchdown to cover as a 6.5-point favorite. Indy led 17-0 at one point, but Cincinnati clawed back before eventually falling, 23-17. Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com had the Bengals as a 6.5-point underdog coming into Sunday’s game.
The Jaguars got an incredible win over the Texans thanks to a 50-yard Hail Mary pass as time expired. Jacksonville was a 1-point favorite heading into a game that was destined for overtime. But David Garrard’s desperation heave to Mike Thomas ended the game in regulation.
The Broncos absolutely hammered the Chiefs 49-29 as a 1-point underdog. The over 44 hit by halftime, as Denver took a 35-10 lead heading into the locker room. Matt Cassel threw for a career-high 469 yards and four touchdowns, while Kyle Orton passed for 296 yards and four scores of his own.
The 49ers rallied to beat the Rams 23-20 in overtime, but failed to cover as a 6-point favorite. The total looked destined to fall under 38.5 points, but three late scores pushed it over.
Perhaps the most shocking final was in New York, as the previously hapless Cowboys crushed the Giants 33-20 at the new Meadowlands. The combined score soared went over the posted total of 46 points.
