NFL Week 8 Openign Line Report
Week 7 isn’t completely in the books yet, as the Rams still need to host the Bears on Monday Night Football. That said, here’s an early look at the point spreads, totals and line movement ahead of Week 8 in the NFL.
The action kicks off on Thursday night when the 3-4 Panthers host the 1-6 Falcons in a matchup of NFC South rivals. Carolina took the first game of this season series in Atlanta three weeks ago, upsetting the Falcons as a small road underdog. The Panthers opened as 2.5-point favorites for the second meeting on Thursday night, but are now 3-point home favorites while the total has remained at 51 after opening at that number.
Moving to Sunday’s games, the Lions are 2.5-point home dogs to the Colts while the total for that game is also sitting at 51. The Packers are laying seven points to the visiting Vikings at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday while the total for that game sits at 55, and the Chiefs are a whopping 20.5-point home favorite to the 0-7 Jets at 1:00 p.m. ET (total 48 points).
Sunday’s early action also features the Browns (-3; 55.5) hosting the Raiders, the Titans (-4.5; 54.5) visiting the Bengals and the Dolphins (+3.5; N/A) hosting the Rams in Tua Tagovialoa’s first NFL start. There’s also a huge matchup in the AFC North between the unbeaten Steelers and the 5-1 Ravens, who are 5.5-point home favorites versus Pittsburgh at 1:00 p.m. ET. The 2-4 Patriots will also visit the Bills at 1:00 p.m. ET after being held to under 10 points at home for consecutive games.
Moving to Sunday’s late action, the Chargers are 1.5-point road favorites versus the Broncos (44.5) at 4:05 p.m. ET while the Bears are 2.5-point home dogs versus the Saints. NFC West rivals also meet in Seattle this week as the Seahawks as the 49ers as 4-point home favorites. No total is listed for the New Orleans-Chicago and San Francisco-Seattle game yet, and there has been no line movement on either game as of this writing.
Finally, the dreadful Cowboys are 7.5-point road underdogs versus the Eagles for what figures to be a lousy Sunday Night Football matchup at 8:20 p.m. ET. Philadelphia opened as 3.5-point favorites, but with Dallas’ injury situation getting bleaker by the week, the Cowboys are now catching over a touchdown as a road dog. On Monday night, Tom Brady and the Bucs visit the Giants, who are 10-point home dogs after opening as 8.5-point underdog. The total for that MNF matchup sits at 48 points.
