Giants at Saints Pick
In the marquee matchup of Week 6 in the NFL, the undefeated New Orleans Saints host the undefeated New York Giants at 1:00PM ET on Sunday.
The Giants routed the Raiders 44-7 as a 15-point favorite in Week 5 to improve to 5-0 on the season. Eli Manning threw for 173 yards and two touchdowns, while Ahmad Bradshaw rushed for 110 yards and a pair of scores on 11 carries.
The Saints had a bye week, but beat the Jets 24-10 in Week 4 to improve to 4-0. Pierre Thomas rushed for 86 yards on 19 carries and a touchdown as New Orleans easily covered the 6.5-point spread.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com have made the Saints 3-point home favorites over the Giants this Sunday. The over/under total for this game has been set at 47.5.
This is the toughest game to handicap in Week 6 because both teams are so good on both sides of the ball and neither has shown signs of a letdown. The Saints definitely have a small edge considering they’re coming off a bye and are at home, but will that be enough to produce a cover?
The Giants are going to be tough to run against, although the Saints have a trio of backs in Thomas, Reggie Bush and Mike Bell that can all be productive. The key for New York is to get a consistent pass rush on quarterback Drew Brees so he doesn’t have time to pick the secondary apart.
We favor the Giants in this matchup. While the Saints have played well defensively this year, they could be due for a letdown. They haven’t faced a team that can hang with them offensively this year and we like Manning to keep things close.
Play the underdog and the over as this one could wind up being a shootout.
