Jets vs. Patriots Free Pick
The Jets started the season by winning their first two games but since then they’ve lost two in a row and have looked rather ugly while doing so. They enter Sundays game with New England with a 2-2 record and are 1-3 against the spread. Despite their usually stout defense, the over has hit in three of the Jets’ first four games this season.
The only blemish on Tom Brady and the Patriots’ record so far is a loss to the Bills in Week 3, a defeat they suffered despite building a 21-0 first half lead. New England is 3-1 on the season and 3-1 against the spread, with its only failed covering coming against that same Buffalo team two weeks ago. The over hit in three straight games for the Patriots, but the combined score fell under the total last week when they beat the Raiders, 31-19.
Oddsmakers have installed the Pats as 9.5-point favorites against the Jets this Sunday, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 49 points. The spread may not climb to the key number of 10 either. That’s because 52% of the 14,000-plus wagers on this game have been placed on the Jets +9.5. Despite New York’s recent struggles, it appears as though the betting public believes this will be a close game.
According to latest NFL trends, the over is 3-0-1 in the last four meetings between these two teams in New England and 3-0-1 in the last four meetings overall. The road team is also 18-7-1 against the spread in the last 26 meetings between these two AFC East rivals.
Kickoff for this Week 5 matchup is set for 4:15PM ET on Sunday and will be shown on CBS.
