Lions vs. Packers Prediction
NFC North rivals clash at Lambeau Field this weekend when the Green Bay Packers host the Detroit Lions at 1:00PM ET. Let’s check out the point spread odds and hand out a prediction for this game.
Before making a prediction on this Week 4 contest, let’s first check out the odds.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Packers 14-point favorites over the Lions in Week 4, while the over/under total for this game is sitting at 45.5 points.
The Packers are coming off a frustrating loss to the Bears on Monday Night Football. They committed 18 penalties for over 150 yards and also turned the ball over late in the game to give Chicago a chance to steal a win. There’s no doubt Mike McCarthy’s team will be more focused for this game on Sunday.
The Lions continue to struggle without quarterback Matthew Stafford, who once again will be held out with a shoulder injury. Shaun Hill has been a fine fill in, although it’s apparent that he can’t make the big play to get Detroit over the hump and into the win column. Even with offensive weapons like Calvin Johnson and rookie Jahvid Best around him, Hill can’ t do enough late in games to will the Lions to victory.
The Prediction:
The favorite is 6-1 against the spread in the last seven meetings between these two teams, while the Lions are 1-7 ATS in their last eight meetings with the Packers. They’re also 3-9-1 ATS in their last 13 meetings with the Packers in Green Bay and my prediction is that they’ll struggle again this week. Even though laying double-digit points in the NFL is a risky proposition, the Packers are going to come out fired up for this one after losing to Chicago earlier in the week. Expect a more prepared, more focused Packer team and be confident laying the 14.
