Packers vs. Seahawks Free Pick
SEATTLE, WA (ATS Consultants) – Will the defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks open their title defense with a win tonight against the Packers at 8:30PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Seahawks are 5.5-point home favorites over the Packers, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 46.5 points. The side was bet down a half point in this game, while the total has been bet up after opening at 45.
The Packers weren’t overly active in free agency but did add pass rusher Julius Peppers, formerly of the Bears. They also addressed perhaps their biggest weakness from a year ago when they selected Alabama safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix in the first round of May’s draft. Fresno State receiver Davante Adams was the team’s second-round pick.
The defending champion Seahawks didn’t have to make many additions to their championship roster, although it’ll be interesting to see how the losses of Golden Tate, Brandon Browner, Walter Thurmond, Red Bryant and Chris Clemons affect the team over a full regular season. But this team still has the best defensive backfield in the league, are lead by a quarterback in Russell Wilson that can make the big play, and owns a power running game that consistently wears opponents down. They’re going to be contenders.
NFL FREE PICK: Take the under. According to latest NFL trends, the under is 5-0 in the Seahawks’ last five home games, 7-0 in their last seven games versus the NFC, and 7-1 in their last eight games overall. The under is also 8-2 in Seattle’s last 10 games in September and 3-1-1 in its last five games in Week 1. The Packers will run plenty of no-huddle tonight and even though that could lead to pick plays, it should also keep the clock moving. And with the Seahawks already pounding the ball on the ground as much as they do, the under should hit.
