The Eagles had one of the top offenses in the league last year, leading the NFL in rushing at 160.4 yards per game. Lesean McCoy is back in the backfield and now joined by Darren Sproles, to give the offenses even more speed. Nick Foles can emerge as a top NFL quarterback this season if he builds off his 27-TD to 2-INT performance from a year ago. Defensively, the Eagles ranked last in the NFL in passing, allowing 289.8 yards per game. Part of that is due to Philadelphia’s tempo on offense, but the Eagles also need upgrades in talent.
Jacksonville had a rough season to start 2013, going 0-8 before winning four of its next five. The Jags averaged under 300 yards per game on offense and allowed 379.4 yards per game on defense. The team drafted Blake Bortles as its future franchise quarterback, but Chad Henne is the current starter. The team is also putting Toby Gerhart in the backfield in hopes to improve on its 31st-ranked rushing game. The team is without receiver Justin Blackmon all season because of a suspension, which the team addressed by taking two receivers early in the NFL Draft.
In terms of Injuries, Philadelphia tackle Lane Johnson is out for the first four games with a suspension. Jacksonville kicker Josh Scobee (quad) and tight end Clay Harbor (calf) are both questionable for this game.
The Public Bets for this game are currently backing the Eagles, as Philadelphia is getting 64% of the wagers with a point spread of -10 against the Jaguars on Sunday.
