Raiders 2011 NFL Season Odds
(The Spread) – After losing their best defender via free agency, not many pundits expect the Oakland Raiders to compete in 2012.
Oddsmakers currently list the Raiders as 65/1 long shots to win the 2012 Super Bowl and their over/under total for wins is just 6.5 games. They’re also long shots to win the AFC at 33/1 and have the second worst odds to win the AFC West Division at +550. (The Broncos currently have the worst at +1200.)
Oakland swept the AFC West last season, which has given some fans hope that the Raiders will put it all together this year and make a run at the postseason. But after losing free agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha to the Eagles this offseason, the Raiders’ defense could be in a world of hurt.

At least the Raiders did re-sign corner Stanford Routt, who is a rather underrated player when you dig into the numbers. The Raiders also added tight end Kevin Boss (Giants), safety Josh Bullocks (Bears) and named Al Saunders offensive coordinator.
Under head coach Hue Jackson, the offense could be more explosive in 2011. Jackson has waited a long time to be a head coach and now finally gets the opportunity after serving as the team’s offensive coordinator last season. He certainly has enough young toys to play with on that side of the ball, namely running back Darren McFadden and receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey (who may be ready for a breakout campaign). But the Raiders’ success will likely hinder on whether or not quarterback Jason Campbell can play with some consistency and whether or not the defense will step up in the wake of losing Asomugha.
