Brees Back in Action

Metairie, LA - Drew Brees says he expects to play in the New Orleans Saints' preseason opener on Friday night, but also figures to be excused from training camp again next week so he can attend his mother's funeral.

The Saints' quarterback was back with the club for a pair of practices on Monday after missing the team's scrimmage over the weekend so he could gather with family following the death of Mina Brees in Colorado last Friday.
Brees says it's good to be back at practice to get his mind on football again and to be with supportive teammates.
The Saints are scheduled to practice jointly with the Texans in Houston next week before the teams play a preseason game there on Aug. 22.
