Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Patriots are 2.5-point favorites to beat the Rams. The total, meanwhile, sits at 56.5 points. As of this writing, 73% of the public betting tickets are on the Patriots to cover the point spread.
Jared Goff Total Passing Yards: Over/Under 285.5
I’m simply going to play the numbers here. With Cooper Kupp healthy for L.A.’s first eight games of the season, Goff averaged 329.62 passing yards per game. Kupp tore his ACL mid-season and in his last eight games without Kupp, Goff averaged just 256.38 passing yards per game. That’s a huge drop-off and if he stays with that average, bettors should be able to cash on the under.
Prediction: Under 285.5 Passing Yards
Jared Goff Total Touchdown Pass Thrown: Over/Under 2
There’s more value in the under if you take this prop at 1.5 but again, I’m siding with the math. As I mentioned above, Goff’s passing numbers fell with Kupp out of the lineup. In his eight games without Kupp, he averaged 256.38 passing yards per game but he also averaged 1.88 passing touchdowns per contest. With Kupp, Goff averaged 2.12 passing touchdowns per game. If you’re looking for a bigger margin for error, you could take the under 2.5 on this prop, which is paying out 1/2.
Prediction: Under 2 Touchdowns Thrown (5/6)
Jared Goff: Will He Throw an Interception
In his last five regular-season games, Goff threw seven interceptions. Now, four of those seven interceptions came in one game (Week 14 at Chicago) and he didn’t throw an interception in three straight games against the Cardinals (Week 16), 49ers (Week 17) or the Cowboys (Divisional Round). Nevertheless, the theme of these Goff-related prop predictions is about what kind of signal-caller he’s been without Kupp. And without Kupp, he has thrown seven interceptions, eight if you include the one he threw against the Saints in the NFC Championship. Bill Belichick should be able to get him once.
Prediction: Will Goff Throw an Interception: Yes (5/7)
