GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) – Oklahoma has tried to avoid that here-we-go-again feeling for the Fiesta Bowl.
Losers of five straight BCS bowls, including twice in the Fiesta, the ninth-ranked Sooners switched hotels and practice sites, hoping to change their fortunes for the New Year’s Day game against No. 25 Connecticut.
Oklahoma had disappointing losses its past two trips to the desert and aren’t going to take the Huskies lightly despite being 16 1/2-point favorites.
For UConn, this trip to the Valley of Sun is a completely new experience.
The Huskies have made four straight bowl appearances, winning two of those, but will play in a BCS bowl for the first time after sharing the Big East title with Pittsburgh and West Virginia.
