EL PASO, Texas (AP) -Heisman Trophy runner-up Toby Gerhart is pumped for Stanford’s showdown against Oklahoma in the Sun Bowl.
Gerhart, who finished second to Alabama’s Mark Ingram in the closest Heisman vote ever, thinks it should be an exciting game Thursday. He says Stanford has a power offense and Oklahoma has one of the nation’s best run defenses.
Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh said Wednesday that freshman quarterback Andrew Luck has had pins removed from his broken right index finger and might play. Harbaugh says the decision will be made just before kickoff.
Tavita Pritchard, who led the Cardinal to a 24-23 upset at Southern California two years ago in the first of his 19 career starts, has been directing the offense in practice.
